Cristiano Ronaldo Offered $360M Contract By Al-Nassr

Nov 30, 2022 3:05 PM

Cristiano Ronaldo has been offered a three-and-a-half year contract by Al-Nassr in Saudi Arabia worth more than $119 million per year.

As part of the deal, Al-Nassr would be willing to compensate Ronaldo for the $19 million that he would have earned for the remainder of the season with Manchester United.

Saudi Arabia, meanwhile, are hopeful that Ronaldo's presence in their domestic league would help a bid to host the 2030 World Cup and would be keen for the former Real Madrid and Juventus forward to work as an ambassador for the country.

Ronaldo remains open to the possibility of remaining in Europe this season.

Lionel Messi Hasn't Agreed To Deal With Inter Miami

Nov 28, 2022 11:17 AM

Lionel Messi has not yet agreed to a deal with Inter Miami despite reports a deal is close.

Messi has previously said he would like to play in Major League Soccer, but the forward has decided not to think about his future until the new year and has opted to focus on the World Cup.

Messi and his family own a house in Miami.

Messi's current contract with Paris Saint-Germain expires in June.

PSG are hoping to convince Messi to stay at the Parc des Princes for at least another season, particularly if they can offer him a competitive team with the potential to win the Champions League.

Cristiano Ronaldo, United Mutually Agree To Terminate Contract

Nov 22, 2022 9:30 PM

Cristiano Ronaldo and Manchester United have mutually agreed to terminate his contract.

Ronaldo's interview with Piers Morgan last week made the possibility of him continuing with the club after the World Cup completely untenable for any of the stakeholders.

A statement issued by the club on Tuesday read: "Cristiano Ronaldo is to leave Manchester United by mutual agreement, with immediate effect.

"The club thanks him for his immense contribution across two spells at Old Trafford, scoring 145 goals in 346 appearances, and wishes him and his family well for the future.

"Everyone at Manchester United remains focused on continuing the team's progress under Erik ten Hag and working together to deliver success on the pitch."

United will not have to pay Ronaldo to leave the club.

In a simultaneous statement, Ronaldo, who rejoined United from Juventus in 2021, said it was "time for a new challenge." He said: "Following conversations with Manchester United we have mutually agreed to end our contract early.

"I love Manchester United and I love the fans, that will never ever change. However, it feels like the right time for me to seek a new challenge.

"I wish the team every success for the remainder of the season and for the future."

United Seek Termination Of Cristiano Ronaldo's Contract

Nov 18, 2022 1:43 PM

Manchester United say they have "initiated appropriate steps" to terminate the contract of Cristiano Ronaldo as well as potentially suing him for breach of contract.

In a meeting on Monday, manager Erik ten Hag told club bosses including co-chairman Joel Glazer, chief executive Richard Arnold and football director John Murtough that he does not want Ronaldo back after the World Cup.

Ronaldo has infuriated the club by claiming they have made "zero progress" since Sir Alex Ferguson retired in 2013 while also saying he "doesn't respect" Erik ten Hag.

Sources have told ESPN that United are hoping to conclude their action against Ronaldo "as swiftly as possible."

City Disputes Cristiano Ronaldo's Assertion Move Was 'Close'

Nov 17, 2022 11:15 AM

Manchester City has denied Cristiano Ronaldo's account that a move to the club was "close" before he ended up back at Manchester United.

City sources insisted his comments are "not reflective" of their interest at the time, which has been described as "mild."

Ronaldo claims only Sir Alex Ferguson's intervention stopped him from joining City.

"I think it was the key, it was the difference in that moment, but I cannot be loyal if I will, I wouldn't say that Manchester City wasn't close," Ronaldo said.

"I spoke with [Ferguson]. He said to me that, 'It's impossible for you to come to Manchester City,' and I say, 'OK, boss.'

"Well, honestly, it [joining City] was close... It's something they spoke [about] a lot and [City manager Pep] Guardiola said two weeks ago, I guess, that they tried hard to have me."

Erik Ten Hag Doesn't Want Cristiano Ronaldo To Play For United Again

Nov 15, 2022 1:17 PM

Erik ten Hag has told Manchester United's hierarchy that Cristiano Ronaldo shouldn't play for the club again.

Ten Hag held a meeting with co-chairman Joel Glazer, chief executive Richard Arnold and football director John Murtough on Monday to discuss the fallout from Ronaldo's explosive interview with Piers Morgan.

Ronaldo has a contract worth more than £500,000-a-week until the end of the season, but there is a feeling at Old Trafford that it will be almost impossible to reintegrate the 37-year-old into the squad after the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

Ronaldo has already been disciplined twice by Ten Hag this season.

United Furious With Cristiano Ronaldo After Interview

Nov 14, 2022 10:35 AM

Manchester United are furious at Cristiano Ronaldo for his interview with Piers Morgan.

Ronaldo claims United and Ten Hag wanted to "force him out" in the summer, but sources have told ESPN that during the transfer window, United were made aware that the striker's representatives were actively looking for a move away.

United said in a statement on Monday: "Manchester United notes the media coverage regarding an interview by Cristiano Ronaldo. The club will consider its response after the full facts have been established.

"Our focus remains on preparing for the second half of the season and continuing the momentum, belief and togetherness being built among the players, manager, staff, and fans."

United will leave Ten Hag to deal with Ronaldo's latest indiscretion, with the backing of football director John Murtough and chief executive Richard Arnold.

Gerard Pique Will Retire Following Saturday's Match

Nov 3, 2022 3:27 PM

Gerard Pique has announced he will retire during the World Cup break and play in his final match on Saturday.

Pique was ever-present in his first 14 seasons with the first team but has fallen down the pecking order this year following the signing of center-backs Andreas Christensen and Jules Kounde.

"For weeks there has been talk about me," Pique said in a video posted across social media. "I have not said anything but I want to speak now.

"Like many of you, coming from a football family, I have always been a Barcelona fan. I did not want to be a footballer, I wanted to play for Barca.

"Recently, I have thought a lot about when I was younger, about what that Gerard would have thought if I told him he would fulfil all his dreams, that he would play for Barca and be a European and world champion.

"That he would play with the best players, that he would captain the club. ... Football has given me everything, Barca have given me everything, you the fans have given me everything. And now my childhood dreams have been fulfilled, the moment has arrived to close this chapter.

"I have always said that after Barcelona there will be no other team and that is how it will be. Saturday will be my last game at Camp Nou.

"I will become another fan after, I will support the team and transmit my love for the club to my kids, like they did with me. And you know me, sooner or later I will be back. See you at Camp Nou. Visca Barca, always and forever."
